What isn't working

Three gaps in Filestage for agencies cutting client short-form.

Written from the agency side: what gets in the way when the deliverable is short-form video for clients. If one of these is your bottleneck, Clipflow is built around it.

  • The clips still have to be found and cut in another tool before there is anything to upload for review.
  • Approval ends at the file: after the client signs off, someone downloads it and posts it in each network by hand.
  • Paid plans start at €249 a month billed monthly, €199 billed yearly (Filestage's pricing page, September 2026) — a second bill on top of the tool that cuts the clips.

What Clipflow does instead

Three reasons to pick it for client work.

  • Makes the clips: finds moments, reframes to vertical, burns in captions

    REASON 01

  • The client’s Approve posts the clip; Filestage stops at the approved file

    REASON 02

  • Unlimited team seats on every plan, with no member bundles to buy

Common questions

Filestage vs Clipflow — answered.

Real questions from people switching to Clipflow. No spin — if Filestage is the better tool for a specific job, we say so.

Is Clipflow a Filestage alternative?

Only for part of what Filestage does. If your clients sign off on short-form video clips, Clipflow makes those clips, runs the approval in the same place and can post the approved clip. Filestage proofs any file — PDFs, designs, websites, long edits — with staged reviewer groups and version compare. Clipflow does not proof arbitrary files, so keep Filestage for that work.

Can I upload a finished video to Clipflow just to get it approved?

Yes. Paste the finished file’s public link into a post’s publish panel and send the post for approval: the client plays that exact file on the review link and approves it. The post has to sit on a video in the client’s workspace, and comments cover the whole video, not a frame. For proofing PDFs, designs or long edits with frame-accurate comments and version compare, Filestage is the right tool.

How do client reviews differ between Filestage and Clipflow?

Filestage reviewers open a link, enter their email address, and leave frame-accurate comments or approve, in stages such as team, client and legal. Clipflow’s review link needs no account either: the client sees each clip with its caption, then approves, requests changes or comments. Clipflow’s comments belong to a clip, not to a frame, and there are no staged reviewer groups.

Does Filestage publish to social media?

Filestage’s pricing page lists no publishing step, so an approved file is downloaded and posted somewhere else. Clipflow can post the approved clip itself. Instagram and YouTube connect in one click and get the clip itself; TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn and X get it through an Upload-Post account; Facebook gets no clips. Every approval request names the channels the post goes to, and the client’s Approve posts it there right away.

What does Filestage cost compared to Clipflow?

Filestage's pricing page, checked in September 2026, shows a free plan with one active project and five new files a month, Starter at €249 a month and Business at €399 a month billed monthly (€199 and €329 a month billed yearly, two months free); Enterprise is on request. Clipflow costs $50 a month per client brand on Agency Flex, or bundles of 5 · 10 · 20 · unlimited client brands, $199 to $499 a month, with unlimited team seats.
