PRODUCT EXPLAINER · UPDATED OCTOBER 2026
How Clipflow works
One long recording becomes a month of platform-native short-form posts — without you sitting in an editor for 20 hours. Clipflow is a repurposing pipeline, not a video editor. Here's exactly what happens between "upload" and "clips live on TikTok" in 2-4 minutes.
The 8-step pipeline
Every clip Clipflow produces moves through the same eight stages. You touch the workflow at three points: upload, approval, and review. The other five run automatically based on your Brand Voice + Brand Kit profiles set up during onboarding.
- 01
Upload one long recording
Drop in a podcast episode, a YouTube long-form video, a Loom or Riverside export, or a webinar recording. Clipflow accepts MP4 and MOV uploads up to 4 GB, plus YouTube URLs up to 60 minutes. Audio-only files are refused — clips need video. The upload is processed once — every downstream output (clips, captions, posts) derives from this single source.
- 02
AI transcribes + scores every 30-90 second window
Clipflow transcribes the audio with word-level timestamps and scores every 30-90 second window on 5 viral-pattern signals: curiosity gap, contrarian take, emotional peak, data drop, and story hook. The output is a ranked candidate list of clip-worthy moments with timestamps, hook recommendations, and a 0-100 virality score for each moment.
- 03
You approve the 3–8 clips each pass finds, Clipflow drafts the rest
Each pass of the clip finder returns 3 to 8 candidates in a reviewer interface: hook + first sentence + duration. Approve the ones you like, reject the rest, and run "Find more clips" for another pass that skips what it already found. Clipflow doesn't publish anything without your approval.
- 04
Brand-voice captions write themselves in your style
For each video, Clipflow writes the caption that carries its clips using your Brand Voice — built from your Brand Voice settings and the posts you have already published through Clipflow. The captions read like you wrote them, not like a generic AI default: hook patterns, vocabulary, sentence rhythm and typical CTAs carry over.
- 05
Face-tracking reframe + Brand Kit on every clip you render
When you render a clip, Clipflow tracks the speaker's face and crops to 9:16 (TikTok / Reels / Shorts) or 1:1 (LinkedIn / X) dynamically per frame. Your Brand Kit — logo, color palette, font, intro animation, outro card — gets applied automatically. No per-clip setup. Subtitles are burned in or exported as SRT, in your brand styling.
- 06
3 hook variants — you pick the winner before publish
For any drafted post, Clipflow generates 3 alternative hooks — a curiosity-gap opener, a bold or contrarian claim, and a personal-story hook — each with a note on the lever it pulls. You pick one and Clipflow writes it into the post in one click. Your 3 most recent picks are handed to the model as a preference signal when it drafts the next posts for that client. Clipflow does not publish the variants as separate posts or measure their engagement against each other — the pick is yours, not a statistic.
- 07
Post now, or send it to the client for approval
Every approved clip has two doors. Post now sends it to the connected channels — the clip itself to Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts through their one-click connections, and to TikTok, Pinterest and LinkedIn through an Upload-Post account; Facebook gets no clips. Send to client for approval names the channels, puts the post on the client's white-label review link and posts it there the moment the client approves. For a client who does not review, one switch per client turns the approval step off. There is no calendar and nothing goes out on a timer. The queue shows what posted or failed, each failure with a plain-English reason and a retry.
- 08
Client-review portal (white-label, on every plan)
Agencies running Clipflow send clips through a per-client review portal that carries the client's own brand kit, not Clipflow's logo — only a small "Powered by Clipflow" line. Clients see each post with its clip, comment, approve or request changes. No tool installation, no extra subscription on the client side. The portal replaces Frame.io + custom review docs + Loom walkthroughs.
Frequently asked
What is Clipflow?
Clipflow is a multi-client content-operations platform for content agencies, social-media studios, and in-house teams running several brands. One workspace turns a single long recording into a month of platform-native posts in each client's brand voice — across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, and Pinterest — with a white-label client-review portal — AI included, no API keys to manage.
How long does Clipflow take to process one hour of source video?
Typically 2-4 minutes from upload to draft clips ready for review. Heavy processing happens in parallel: transcription, viral-moment scoring, reframe, caption generation, and Brand Kit application all run as separate jobs. The bottleneck is usually the transcription step.
Do I need to bring my own AI API key?
No. Every plan runs on Clipflow's own AI — transcription, clip scoring, and post generation are included in the subscription. There are no API keys to set up and nothing extra to pay your AI provider.
What happens to clips Clipflow generates but I don't approve?
They stay in your library. You can revisit, edit hooks, regenerate captions, or hand-cut adjustments anytime. Clipflow never publishes anything without explicit approval. Rejected clips also feed signal into your Brand Voice profile — Clipflow learns what you don't want.
Can Clipflow work with non-English source content?
Yes. Auto-subtitles in 50+ languages, and Brand Voice captions written in 8 output languages — English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch and Polish — from a transcript in any language. The voice model learns from whatever language your past posts are written in.
How does Brand Voice training work?
You set your audience, tone, words to avoid, an example hook and your usual CTA in Settings → Brand Voice. Once a workspace has at least two posts published through Clipflow, it also reads the most recent ones (up to 12) plus a transcript sample and extracts hook patterns, vocabulary, sentence rhythm and typical CTAs. It never copies sentences — it writes new captions in that style.
What if Clipflow misses a viral moment I would have caught?
You can hand-cut any segment via the timestamp editor, and re-run the search with "Find more clips" to widen the shortlist. The AI ranks candidates; you make the final call.
Is the source video stored on Clipflow's servers permanently?
Source videos stay in your workspace for as long as your account is active — there is no fixed retention window and no per-plan retention setting. Deleting a video removes it from the workspace at once; deleted rows are purged for good 30 days later by a nightly job, and support can restore them within that window.
How is Clipflow different from a generic video editor like Veed or Kapwing?
Veed and Kapwing are timeline editors — you cut, splice, layer assets manually. Clipflow is a repurposing pipeline — you upload once and get ranked platform-native short-form clips, 3 to 8 per pass and more with "Find more clips", with captions and one-click publishing, automated. Different category. For one-off video production, use Veed. For systematic long-form-to-short-form repurposing, use Clipflow.
