How Clipflow works

One long recording becomes a month of platform-native short-form posts — without you sitting in an editor for 20 hours. Clipflow is a repurposing pipeline, not a video editor. Here's exactly what happens between "upload" and "clips live on TikTok" in 2-4 minutes.

The 8-step pipeline

Every clip Clipflow produces moves through the same eight stages. You touch the workflow at three points: upload, approval, and review. The other five run automatically based on your Brand Voice + Brand Kit profiles set up during onboarding.

  1. 01

    Upload one long recording

Drop in a podcast episode, a YouTube long-form video, a Loom interview, a webinar export, or a Riverside session. Clipflow accepts MP4, MOV, MP3, WAV uploads up to 4 hours, plus YouTube and Loom URLs. The upload is processed once — every downstream output (clips, captions, posts) derives from this single source.

  2. 02

AI transcribes + scores every 30-90 second window

Clipflow runs the audio through a transcription model (your BYOK Whisper or AssemblyAI key) and scores every 30-90 second window on 5 viral-pattern signals: curiosity gap, contrarian take, emotional peak, data drop, and story hook. The output is a ranked candidate list of clip-worthy moments with timestamps, hook recommendations, and predicted retention curves.

  3. 03

You approve 8-15 clips, Clipflow drafts the rest

You see the top candidates in a reviewer interface: hook + first sentence + duration. Approve the ones you like, reject the rest. Clipflow doesn't publish anything without your approval. Power users can also prompt the clip-finder ("find every moment where the guest disagrees with me") to filter the candidates by topic.

  4. 04

Brand-voice captions write themselves in your style

For each approved clip, Clipflow generates platform-native captions (TikTok, Reels, Shorts, LinkedIn, X) using your Brand Voice profile — trained on your past 50-500 published posts. The captions read like you wrote them, not like a generic AI default. Hook patterns, vocabulary, sentence rhythm, and typical CTAs are all preserved.

  5. 05

Auto-reframe + Brand Kit applied on every render

Clipflow detects faces and key motion, then crops to 9:16 (TikTok / Reels / Shorts) or 1:1 (LinkedIn / X) dynamically per frame. Your Brand Kit — logo, color palette, font, intro animation, outro card — gets applied automatically. No per-clip setup. Subtitles are burned in or exported as SRT, in your brand styling.

  6. 06

A/B hook testing scores variants before publish

For high-stakes clips, Clipflow generates 3 hook variants and scores each on 5 retention dimensions (curiosity, contrast, emotional charge, specificity, brevity). The winner is auto-selected; you can override. After publish, Clipflow tracks which hook earned the most watch-time and feeds that signal back to refine your Brand Voice profile.

  7. 07

    Multi-platform scheduler ships everything

One click pushes approved clips to TikTok, Instagram (Reels + feed), YouTube (Shorts + long-form), LinkedIn, X, and Pinterest — at the time of day each platform's algorithm rewards for your audience time zone. The built-in calendar shows the week ahead so you can rebalance if the queue gets lopsided.

  8. 08

    Client-review portal (Studio plan, white-label)

Agencies running Clipflow ship every clip through a per-client review portal that's branded as the agency, not as Clipflow. Clients see clips, leave per-clip feedback, approve or reject. No tool installation, no extra subscription on the client side. The portal replaces Frame.io + custom review docs + Loom walkthroughs.

Frequently asked

How long does Clipflow take to process one hour of source video?

Typically 2-4 minutes from upload to draft clips ready for review. Heavy processing happens in parallel: transcription, viral-moment scoring, reframe, caption generation, and Brand Kit application all run as separate jobs. The bottleneck is usually the transcription model (you bring your own API key).

Do I need to bring my own AI API key?

For paid tiers: yes — BYOK is the model that lets us charge less and lets you pay your AI provider directly with no markup. We support OpenAI, Anthropic, Google. Setup is a 10-minute one-time process. The free Starter tier uses Clipflow's platform key with limited monthly minutes.

What happens to clips Clipflow generates but I don't approve?

They stay in your library. You can revisit, edit hooks, regenerate captions, or hand-cut adjustments anytime. Clipflow never publishes anything without explicit approval. Rejected clips also feed signal into your Brand Voice profile — Clipflow learns what you don't want.

Can Clipflow work with non-English source content?

Yes. Auto-subtitles in 50+ languages, auto-translation between any two languages, and Brand Voice caption writing in 12 languages including German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Korean. The voice model trains on whatever language your past posts are written in.

How does Brand Voice training work?

Clipflow reads your past 50-500 published posts (across Twitter, LinkedIn, blog, newsletter — wherever you publish) and extracts: hook patterns, vocabulary, sentence rhythm, typical CTAs, formality level, and topic clusters. The model never copies sentences — it learns the abstract style and writes net-new captions in that style.

What if Clipflow misses a viral moment I would have caught?

You can prompt the clip-finder directly ("find every moment about pricing" or "find moments where I tell a personal story") to filter candidates by topic. You can also hand-cut any segment via the timestamp editor. The AI ranks candidates; you make the final call.

Is the source video stored on Clipflow's servers permanently?

Source videos are stored encrypted in our infrastructure for 90 days by default. Studio-tier accounts can configure custom retention (30 days minimum, indefinite maximum). You can delete any source manually anytime via the workspace settings.

How is Clipflow different from a generic video editor like Veed or Kapwing?

Veed and Kapwing are timeline editors — you cut, splice, layer assets manually. Clipflow is a repurposing pipeline — you upload once and get 20-40 platform-native short-form clips with captions and scheduling, automated. Different category. For one-off video production, use Veed. For systematic long-form-to-short-form repurposing, use Clipflow.
